History
Fuller was founded in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, in 2004 to become a specialized international supplier of carbon steel pipe spool fabrications and rubber liner. Fuller was in many ways a continuation of a company called Abraflex Ltd, which was a family business owned by Bill Fuller in 1980 doing very similar work. Jeff Fuller, Bill’s son learned the value of honesty, customer relationships, quality, and safety at home and working in the business for 14 years before starting Fuller. Bill, looking towards retirement, had a more conservative approach to business growth and sold his shares to an amalgamated company with Jeff as a shareholder. Unsatisfied with the unfocused direction of the amalgamated company, Jeff sold his shares and opened Fuller. The response was excellent. Customers were pleased to get the quality and responsiveness originally associated with Abraflex along with the energy and capacity of the new Fuller company. Bill remains on as a consultant and the company continues to grow in size and reputation.
In 2007 Fuller outgrew its original facility and opened a new state-of-the-art facility in Lively (Sudbury), Ontario.
In 2008, Fuller took a part ownership in Fuller Western Rubber Linings, a new business in Edmonton, Alberta, with the former owners of CSI Coatings. Fuller has subsequently purchased all the shares of Fuller Western and it is now a wholly owned Fuller company. Fuller’s Western division provides customers with geographical diversification along with expanded services to offer fusion bonded epoxy, liquid coating and large scale field rubber lining and coating.
Fuller won the Chamber of Commerce New Business start-up award in 2006 and the Business of the Year award on 2010. With a vision of being the employer of choice in all the markets it serves, Fuller looks forward to winning a Best Employer award in the near future.
